I built Polotno for a dumb personal reason: I kept bombing interviews and had no idea why, because I could never remember what I actually said afterward.
So I started recording my own mock interviews and running them through a transcription pipeline — speaker labels, timestamps, the works — just so I could read back my own answers and see where I rambled, dodged questions, or forgot to mention something important.
It worked well enough on my own interviews that I kept extending it: support for uploading any audio/video file, pasting a YouTube/VK link directly, an AI summary so you don't have to read the full transcript, export to TXT/DOCX/PDF/SRT, and 99 languages.
It's still solo, still a side project, and still free to try. If you've ever wanted to actually review a conversation instead of trusting your memory of it — interview prep, a call, a lecture — that's exactly the itch this scratches.

The interview-prep use case feels much sharper than the broader transcription angle.
Curious whether people are mainly coming for interview review, or whether the broader “review conversations you’d otherwise forget” use case is proving strong enough to widen the positioning.
Interview review is actually a minority of the traffic — calls/meetings and pasted YouTube/video links make up most of it (way less friction than uploading a file), plus lectures. And oddly, a steady stream of people just uploading songs to get the lyrics 😅.
So the broader "review a conversation you'd otherwise forget" framing seems to be the real driver of usage now — interviews are just where the whole thing started.
