February 2, 2021 PrivaNote is on Product Hunt!

https://www.producthunt.com/posts/privanote

PrivaNote is my attempt at a modern day note taking application. A few highlights:

  • offline first
  • end-to-end encrypted sync
  • open source (https://github.com/portabellainc...)
  • installable as a browser extension (Chrome and FireFox) that overrides your new tab page.

Personally I'm always in the browser and always having random thoughts I want to capture, so this tool is perfect for jotting down notes and sorting them out later.

I hope you find it as useful as I do!

November 9, 2020 200th subscriber!

Overnight I hit this milestone, and we're already at 203 at the time of writing!

Lately Portabella has seen a serious uptick in usage and views, this was all spurred on by the Product Hunt launch a few weeks ago and Hacker News traffic.

Right now Portabella is no. 8 on the "Show" tab of Hacker News and has been there all weekend.

I'm also committing to blogging more to hopefully drive more engagement as well as building up a mailing list.

November 7, 2020 Payments are live!

It's been a long, long road but here we are, payments are enabled on Portabella.

We have three payment tiers:

  • Starter $0 /month
  • Personal $5 /month
  • Business $10 /user/month

Of course every user who already signed up has been marked as an early adopter, so no payments will be requested for those users.

This coincides with the launch of a few new features we're really excited about, namely documents and subtasks.

Check it out if you haven't already!

October 19, 2020 Live on Product Hunt!

After around 6 months of developing Portabella, we're finally live on Product Hunt! Please give us an upvote:

We could have definitely launched earlier, but a big redesign, handling feedback from users and wanting the perfect launch day has kept pushing back the date.

September 11, 2020 Public (read-only) projects are live!

I've been hard at work lately juggling work, Portabella and other commitments however I just pushed a huge update, public (read-only) projects.

Security and privacy are at the forefront of my mind when developing Portabella, however sometimes it makes sense for a board to be public.

The first project to be made public is of course the development board for Portabella itself, you can check it out here.

I also published a blog post with more info on what I've been up to lately wrt. Portabella.

August 11, 2020 Featured on BetaList!

We've just gone live on BetaList, didn't mean to get on there right at this moment as payments are still not enabled, but hopefully we get some good traffic from it.

Development has slowed a little recently because I've been swamped with work and doing intensive German lessons every day.

Still it's in a good spot I think for a mini launch and am excited to see how it goes!

The future is end-to-end encrypted. I believe that 90% of businesses don't actually need access to your data, the only reason they want it (other than negligence) is to sell, market and analyse it.
