For 7 years, I worked as a data analyst.

Good pay. Remote. Stable. Zero drama.

From the outside, it looked like the smart path. From the inside, it felt like I was slowly trading creative energy for predictability.

So I did what a lot of people here do: I built side projects.

Blogs.
Affiliate sites.
An AI Twitter tool.
An art print business.
Copywriting. Algo trading. Random experiments.

None of them failed hard. They just stalled.

Looking back, the pattern was obvious:
I was building things I thought might work, not things that annoyed me daily.

That changed with content.

The Actual Problem (Not “Writer’s Block”)

Posting content was never hard because I had nothing to say.

It was hard because it broke my flow.

My “simple” posting workflow looked like this:

As a data person, that bothered me a lot.

Treating Content Like a System

Instead of forcing myself to write more, I analyzed what already worked.

I pulled high-performing posts and broke them down into components:

• Hook strength

• Clarity

• Breadth

• Tension

• Reply-ability

Patterns showed up quickly.

Most “viral” posts weren’t magic. They followed repeatable structures.

Creators weren’t bad at writing.
They just had no signal before posting.

That’s when I built the first version of Post2X — not as a product, but as a private tool that scored my drafts and told me what was weak.

It was ugly. It was blunt.
And it worked immediately.

The Feature That Made Me Keep Using It

I almost quit building when I added AI.

Not because it didn’t work — but because it sounded like AI.

Generic tone. Safe phrasing. No personality.

So I flipped the approach.

Instead of “AI writes content,” I built voice mimicking.

Quitting Before It Felt Safe

Around the same time, my company asked me to relocate back to HQ after years of remote work.

I didn’t want to move.
I didn’t want to pause building.
And I didn’t want to keep delaying the decision.

So I quit.

No dramatic story.
No perfect runway.
Just the realization that comfort was becoming expensive.

I started traveling, shipping in public, and iterating fast.

Post2X went live.

What I’ve Learned So Far

A few takeaways for anyone building:

• Most failed side projects aren’t wasted — they’re training

• AI is most useful as a critic and amplifier, not a replacement

• Creators don’t need more ideas — they need better feedback loops

• If you wouldn’t use your product daily, users won’t either

Post2X exists because every project before it didn’t quite work.

This one stuck because it scratched a real itch.

Still Early

Post2X is far from finished.

But it’s the first tool I’ve built that I’d be genuinely annoyed to lose.
