PostPlanify
Social Media Scheduler with AI Captions + Canva Support
Hey indie hackers 👋
I wanted to share a fully transparent update on my journey building PostPlanify, a social media scheduler with AI-powered captions, post previews, and Canva integration.
I’ve been building since April 2025, officially launched in late May, and so far it’s been a rollercoaster.
Why I started PostPlanify

The social media scheduling space is extremely competitive. When I first started researching, I saw:
Huge established players charging $99/month, $199/month, and higher.
Cheap options charging $10-20/month, but with terrible UX, bugs, and unreliable features.
A lot of bloated "all-in-one" tools trying to be everything for everyone.
As a solo creator and developer, I thought:
"Is there room for something better? Something simple, focused, affordable, but still powerful?"
I didn’t want to create “just another scheduling tool.” I wanted to make something that:
supports multiple platforms (TikTok, IG, FB, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, etc.)
helps creators generate captions with AI (ones that doesn't sound robotic) based on their own brand voice and post details.
integrates with Canva so you can easily import your designs.
visually appealing and supports post previews for each platform (so I enjoy using it)
keeps pricing super fair and accessible.

Here’s a sneak peek of my current dashboard:

The brutal reality: Distribution is 100x harder than building
Coding was actually the "easy" part.
As a developer, you think:
If I build a great product, people will come.
Reality check: They won’t.
Right now my biggest challenge by far is distribution. Getting attention in such a crowded market is incredibly difficult.
Here’s what I’m currently trying:
🔍 Writing SEO blog posts targeting long-tail keywords (very early stage still)
🎥 Creating TikTok videos around content creation tips & growth hacks
📢 Posting regularly on LinkedIn & Reddit
💬 Engaging in Reddit communities (without being spammy)
🔗 Slowly building backlinks to increase domain authority
🧪 Testing IndieHackers, X, and other founder communities for visibility
Marketing is its own full-time job. Every single day feels like trying 10 things and hoping 1 works.
If anyone here has any experience breaking through early-stage distribution in a hyper-competitive SaaS market: I’m all ears. 🙏
Some small wins that keep me going
✅ A few users told me “this is exactly what I’ve been looking for” — small feedback like this means everything at this stage.
✅ I’ve received really positive feedback about the simplicity of onboarding and the AI caption generator.
✅ I'm very close to convert trial users into paying customers.
✅ I’ve learned so much by being forced to wear every hat:
Marketing
SEO
Customer support
Content creation
Deployment
Bug fixing
I truly believe you learn by doing, and this journey is making me stronger in ways pure "learning" never would have.

Where I want to take PostPlanify
I don’t pretend I’m building a billion-dollar company. My goal is fairly reasonable:
Build a solid, sustainable SaaS that creators genuinely love.
Become the best affordable alternative to expensive bloated scheduling tools (make it no brainer)
Build up traffic, organic search, partnerships, and eventually paid marketing.
In a world full of $100/month SaaS tools, I think there’s a real gap for something simple, useful, and fair for creators.
I strongly believe that I'll hit $3-5K/mo very soon. It's just that first few months are the hardest.
Key Lessons I’ve learned so far:
1️⃣ Don’t underestimate distribution.
Building is the easy part, distribution is where you’ll spend most of your energy (sad truth for most developers out there but it's what it is - you start enjoying it by time though)
2️⃣ Perfection will kill you early on.
Ship fast, iterate, get feedback. I’m still fixing small UX glitches, but shipping got me my first users.
3️⃣ Early feedback is priceless.
Even a few users can give you insights that guide your roadmap better than anything else.
4️⃣ It’s a marathon, not a sprint.
SaaS is about consistency. Show up every day. Plant seeds everywhere. It compounds.

Thanks for reading btw, I hope this was helpful for others in the early SaaS grind!
Happy building 🚀
About
Current scheduling tools in the market are either too expensive with bloated features or affordable with no any fancy features. That's why I decided to create a tool on my own.
