Data Engineering as a Services
This is the first service as service that I attempt with a few friends to test the data market. It simply did not resonate and I decided to close it down and focus on other projects that were more promising.
The projects taught me a few things about service as software. Initially the idea of a service as a soft was appealing due to the fact that we did not have to code anything. Simply put up a landing page. Generate some interested from the target market and you have a business.
In practice it's a challenging task, especially given the market that we were trying to target. Data is the new gold mine for most business. Handing this off to a 3rd party to work with was wishful thinking. Lesson learned.
We launched predata.io this month. My co-founders and I have been working in data for over 6 years and are finally excited to leverage our knowledge and provide data engineer services to small and medium businesses.
Next step is to get customers via the service instead of doing so as contractors.
