Preloved
Indonesia's preloved clothing & thrifting marketplace
So, why did I create Preloved, you might ask? Well, I noticed that there was a major gap in the online thrifting market in Indonesia. Even though thrifting and buying preloved clothes is becoming more popular, there wasn't a dedicated platform for it.
A few months ago, I created my first Indonesian project, Fungsi.id, which is a job board for the Indonesian market. Even though I didn't do any crazy marketing or backlink building, it was generating hundreds of daily hits from Google. That's when I realized that there were a lot of searches for certain keywords in Indonesia, but no quality websites offering content for that demand. So, I created Fungsi.id to see if I could fill that gap and it worked like a charm!
So, with that in mind, I decided to create Preloved.
I saw that there was a lot of demand for online thrifting in Indonesia, but no real offer for a thrifting/preloved-only platform for Indonesia. Most other countries have a dedicated website for second-hand fashion, but Indonesia didn't. Plus, my girlfriend (who is also my partner in this project) and I have been staying in Jakarta for a while and we noticed a growing popularity in thrifting events. People in Indonesia currently sell their second-hand fashion on Instagram, which is not the most efficient way to reach potential buyers. A platform that has some traffic, of course, could greatly improve the reusability of fashion and help connect buyers and sellers more effectively.
Oh, and by the way, I have Indonesian roots, but I grew up in the Netherlands.
We are Frizky and Farah, a developer and designer duo who saw growing popularity in thrifting events in Jakarta. As avid travelers, we also noticed that many other countries have a thriving thrifting community, which is still lacking in Indonesia. That's why we decided to create a platform where people can buy and sell their used fashion.
Not only is buying used clothing a great way to score a unique, one-of-a-kind piece, but it's also great for the environment. Fast fashion is the second-biggest consumer of water and is responsible for about 10% of global carbon emissions – more than all international flights and maritime shipping combined. By buying preloved clothing, you are helping to reduce this environmental impact.
Our marketplace preloved.co.id is a community-driven platform, where anyone can buy and sell their used clothing with ease. We are committed to providing a user-friendly, secure and safe platform to make sure that you can enjoy the process of online thrifting.
We believe that buying and selling preloved clothing is a great way to save money and find unique, one-of-a-kind items, while also helping the environment. We hope you'll join us on our mission to promote thrifting and reduce the environmental impact of fast fashion in Indonesia.
