April 16, 2025 Leveled Up Our Mock Interview Platform - Now Running 4 LLMs Simultaneously!

Hey IH community! πŸ‘‹

Just shipped a major update to Prepin - our AI mock interview platform for tech folks. The interview engine has been completely overhauled and now runs 4 LLMs simultaneously:

  1. Core interview engine for technical questions/answers

  2. Real-time emotion tracking to analyze confidence levels

  3. Enhanced text-to-speech & speech-to-text for natural conversation

  4. AI Copilot that provides subtle hints during tough questions

We've also massively improved the post-interview feedback with detailed breakdowns of your technical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Our team spent months curating cultural fit data for 1000+ companies - so now the system can simulate interviews at Google, Meta, Amazon, or your local startup with appropriate company culture questions.

The question bank has grown to over 5,000 technical questions across frontend, backend, devops and system design.

Revenue has grown 34% since these improvements, and users are spending 3x longer in practice sessions. The emotional intelligence feature has been the biggest surprise hit - people love seeing how their confidence fluctuates during different question types!

What's been your experience with AI tools for interview prep? Any features you wish existed but haven't seen yet?

February 2, 2025 Using Emotions to Stand Out: Marketing an AI Interview Platform Without a Marketing Budget

HeyπŸ‘‹ Oleh here, founder of Prepin.ai. I've been building in public for a few months, and today I wanted to share our marketing journey and get your advice on reaching early users.

The Product

Prepin is an AI mock interview platform with a twist: it tracks your emotions in real-time while you practice. Think of it as having a coach who can tell you exactly when you appear nervous or confident during your answers.

Marketing Journey So Far

What worked:

1. Content creation focused on interview anxiety (10k+ views on Medium)

2. Posting before/after emotion tracking visualizations on LinkedIn

3. Direct outreach to career coaches (20% response rate)

4. Reddit posts in r/cscareerquestions and r/jobs (400+ signups)

What didn't work:

1. Generic "AI interview practice" ads (too competitive)

2. Cold emails to universities

3. General social media posts without emotion tracking visuals

Current Strategy

We're focusing on differentiating through our emotion tracking feature:

- Creating video content showing real emotion analysis during interviews

- Building case studies with actual improvement metrics

- Partnering with career coaches who can validate the technology

- Targeting communities where interview anxiety is openly discussed

Looking for Advice

1. How do you market a feature (emotion tracking) that needs to be experienced to be understood?

2. Should we focus on B2C (job seekers) or B2B (career coaches/universities)?

3. Any experience with marketing to anxious job seekers without being predatory?

4. What channels would you explore that we might have missed?

Current Metrics

- 1,200 signups

- 300 active users

- 18% weekly retention

- NPS: 42

- $0 spent on ads

Next Steps

Planning to:

- Launch a free tier focused on emotion tracking only

- Create educational content about non-verbal communication

- Build partnerships with bootcamps

- Develop an affiliate program for career coaches

Would love to hear your thoughts, especially from those who've marketed B2C tools successfully. How would you approach growing this?

Edit: The comments have been incredibly helpful! Based on your feedback, I've started working on a freemium model and reaching out to career counselors. Will post updates!

January 29, 2025 Launching Prepin - AI Mock Interview Platform

Hey Indie Hackers! I'm excited to share Prepin, a project born from a simple observation: being great at your job doesn't automatically make you great at interviews.

πŸ’‘ The Problem I noticed many talented professionals missing out on dream opportunities not because they lacked skills, but because they weren't prepared for the interview itself. Traditional mock interviews with friends or recording yourself just don't cut it - they lack real feedback and the pressure of a real conversation.

πŸ›  The Solution Prepin is an AI-powered mock interview platform that:

  • Conducts realistic video interviews

  • Provides instant, actionable feedback

  • Adapts questions to your industry and experience

  • Tracks your progress over time

  • Lets you practice unlimited times

🎯 Current Status

  • Launched beta version

  • 500+ practice interviews conducted

  • 4.8/5 average user rating

  • Growing user base in tech, finance, and consulting

πŸ” Tech Stack:

  • React + Vite

  • Node.js

  • GPT-4 API

  • WebRTC for video

  • Custom emotion analysis

πŸ’ Next Steps We're focusing on:

  • Expanding industry-specific question banks

  • Enhancing feedback algorithms

  • Building interview preparation roadmaps

  • Adding collaborative features

Would love to hear your thoughts and feedback! Has anyone else tackled the interview preparation space? What challenges did you face?
