February 1, 2020 Almost finished the MVP app

So, instead of one week of product development it took me almost 1 month. The tech part didn't take much time. It were the ideas, structure and exact functionality of the app that ate all the time. Turned out the shaping of the product so that it would be clear to the potential users is the most time draining process. Not sure that I got it right though. Need to throw it early as possible and get the feedback asap. Now picking icons for the landing page - ah, not easy at all!
Still hoping that the MVP would be ready in the 2 days to come. Feeling awkward: the functionality is dead simple. At the same time this makes it really hard to implement it clearly product wise.

January 4, 2020 Tech stack for the MVP

Since the functionality is relatively easy I would go with Firebase. This should be enough for the MVP web-app. It has all the required tools:

  • realtime database with security rules (firestore)
  • backend business-logic (functions)
  • authentication
As for the frontend I would use ReactJS along with Bootstrap.
Some small tweaks to bootstrap will make the app stand out a bit.

January 3, 2020 How did I came up with the idea?

The YC startup school youtube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcCmMOWuAF4) on how to prioritize your time as a founder had some influence on me. I recognized some issues I have as a startuper and the ideas behind that video seemed relevant. So came the idea for an MVP.

The issue with prioritizing your time and focusing on one problem is something I feel I have been struggling with myself. The ideas that were shared in the YC presentation seemed relevant and logic to me.
