I iterated a lot here. More than you're "supposed to", but given the focus on building a secure platform I decided to spend more time to build in the foundation of the encryption and security model.

I was able to keep the overall privacy requirements while still accomplishing some stretch goals, such as notifications/account recovery options.

Email is broken for sensitive communication. Spamming and spoofing are constant and the free providers have no incentive to respect Privacy.
I want an opt-in, secure, and private method of communicating that isn't data-mined, is more secured against breaches, and is more actionable than free text based email.
