Project 60 x 60
Build 60 Websites in 60 Months
A little background is in order.
I left my corporate job (which paid quite well, by the way) in 2009. I drifted around for a couple of months before serendipity introduced me to this feller who had recently started a digital marketing company. He invited me to join his company, and I obliged. I loved SEO and digital marketing, and it hooked me on. I worked on interesting projects. I left his company in 2010 and started a marketplace for tutors and students. It became moderately successful before, and I sold it for a pretty profit. I married in 2012. Later that year, my wife and I started a Youtube channel that became very successful in India. I started a wedding marketplace in 2015 that became a nice lifestyle business. Unfortunately, it crashed and burned in 2018 due to changing market dynamics. The revenue of the Youtube channel dropped like a rock around the same time. I was forced to take SEO consulting assignments in late 2019 to make ends meet.
I earn around $1400 a month. This is barely sufficient to cover my expenses—time to pull up my socks and build an online business.
Why am I sharing this with the world? Because I am a master procrastinator. Dictionaries want to put my photo below the word. I have proposals from leading dictionaries. I am procrastinating on them.
Jokes apart, I want to share my journey with all you lovely indie hackers to keep me motivated. I love to perform for the crowd. So this is the only way to keep me from drawing.
What is project 60 x 60
Project 60 x 60 is a big push to build 60 Internet properties over the next 60 months. Why not apps? Because Rails is pretty much all that I know. I already have a few Internet properties.
- An ART directory website. It gets about 50 visitors a day.
- A celebrity information website that gets about 100 visitors a day.
- A Youtube channel that brings in about $200 a month.
Plus, I have an SEO gig that gets me $1200 a month, and I have to put in 40 hours of work.
Project 60 X 60 is divided into two tracks.
- Major track. In this track, I will build one website in six months.
- Minor track, where I will build a simple website in a month.
I am working on an informational website in the public sector space. This website is part of the major track. As part of the minor track, I am making a website in the finance domain.
I will share my progress, stats, revenue, and learnings here. I hope the community finds it useful.
About
