Project GUM

Hi everyone, I'm a developer originally from India, currently living and studying in the US. Last month was my birthday, and like anyone living far from home, the hardest part was missing those simple family milestones. Video calls are fine, but they don't really capture the feeling of sharing a physical moment. To solve my own homesickness, I decided to build a passion project: a completely free, interactive virtual platform where people can join a shared digital room from anywhere in the world and blow out a 3D birthday cake together in real-time. The Tech Stack: I built the interactive elements using Three.js to make the 3D cake and animations feel engaging, and handled the real-time multiplayer interactions to keep everyone completely in sync.
