August 8, 2026 How do you know if a prop firm is even real?

I wanted to get funded. Simple, right?

Wrong.

I started researching prop firms. Their websites looked slick. Their reviews looked great. But here's what I couldn't find:

Where do I even start? There's no central list. One firm is on YouTube, another on Reddit, another I found in a Discord server. No comparison. No standard.

Are they actually different? One site says "80% profit split." Another says "up to 90%." What's the catch? I'd click through to the fine print—if there even was one. Some firms buried crucial rules three pages deep.

Are they legit? This was the scary part. Some firms had mixed reviews on Trustpilot. Some had been flagged for changing rules mid-evaluation. Some had payment issues. How do I know which ones are real and which ones will just take my money?

I spent weeks building a spreadsheet. Cross-referencing sites. Checking Trustpilot, Reddit, YouTube comments. Trying to verify which firms actually paid out, which had regulatory backing, which were just exit scams waiting to happen.

It was exhausting. And I still didn't feel confident.

I built Propfundsy to solve this.

It's a verified comparison platform for 53 prop trading firms. Everything you need to know, in one place:

✓ Real fees (not vague "from $29" pricing)

✓ Actual profit splits (and what conditions apply)

✓ Verified data (checked against official sites, updated constantly)

✓ Legitimacy flags (which firms have Trustpilot reviews, regulatory status, payout history)

✓ Rule details (drawdown, consistency, payout speed, what's allowed)

You can filter by account size, compare three firms side-by-side, and see exactly what you're getting into—before you pay a dime.

Why this matters

The prop trading industry wants to be confusing. It keeps traders uninformed. It lets mediocre firms compete on marketing instead of merit. It lets scams hide in plain sight.

Traders deserve better. You should know:

What you're actually paying

If the firm is trustworthy

If their rules match your trading style

What the fine print really says

Propfundsy is that single source of truth.

What's next?

We're launching on Product Hunt and Indie Hackers this week.

If you've ever:

Spent hours comparing prop firm websites

Wondered if a firm was a scam

Got funded and hit a rule you didn't see coming

Wished there was one place to compare them all fairly

Come check it out. Your feedback will make it better.

The comparison angle makes sense, but I think the bigger value is the verification layer. Prop firms can make the headline numbers look comparable while the actual rules create very different outcomes.

Curious how you’re handling firms that change their rules or pricing frequently — that seems like it could become the hardest part of keeping the “single source of truth” trustworthy.
