Measure what matters

If you can´t measure it, you can´t improve it.
We all agree the most important asset in a company is THE TEAMHowever, we do not measure it.
That explains why we suck at leadership and why is so difficult.

At PROSFY we monitor human capital in 77 countries for yourself and for your team.

Hope you find it useful

My favorite talk on measurement for startups is Adam D'Angelo's Stanford CS183F lecture

He argues that the most important thing to measure is the users getting value from your product today. This can be measured in several ways depending on your product and business model (e.g. active users, revenue, transaction volume, etc.).

The next most important thing to measure is cohort retention. By grouping users into time-based cohorts (e.g. 1 week), you can track how retention is trending over time. You need retention curves to flatten out to have a viable business.

If cohorts keep declining without a lower bound, eventually:

    1. You will burn through all your existing users

    2. You will exhaust the supply of new users

If cohorts increase over time, you will be in a very strong position.
