July 22, 2021 Using TDD to speed up my productivity

It took me a few days, but it was worth it. I wrote all the required unit tests for my backend APIs. To be honest, I should have done it from the start instead of using Postman to test the endpoints. But now it is done.

These last few days completely changed the way I think about writing backend code. Use TDD. You won't regret it. It is not a waste of time.

PS: I am using Japa + Chai, but you can use Jest if you are more familiar with it.

You have come a long way mate! I love TDD.

I am curious to know how many customers and what is your current MRR

September 29, 2020 Closing the first customer!

Just 30 days after the MVP release, the first payment has been made. And this is not a monthly payment but an annual plan. What is great is that this customer is, to this day, still a customer! I will be able to iterate on the product with his ideas to make the offer even more appealing.

The next objective is to reach 10 customers.

September 1, 2020 The MVP is released

It took me approximately 5 months to release something that is working great. Yeah, I know. It looks like a long time to release an MVP. I probably could have been quicker. The thing is that I needed to make a few decisions regarding the stack and to get more familiar with it.

  • Nuxt.js for the frontend.
  • TailwindCSS.
  • Adonis.js for my APIs.
  • ElasticSearch for the search engine.
  • Digital Ocean for the hosting (I chose to do the DevOps by myself).

I deliberately chose to bet on JavaScript only. I still believe that this is a good decision as I do not have to switch between languages while coding.

March 2020 How I came up with the idea in Barcelona

While I was visiting one of my best friends in Barcelona, I came up with the idea of designing a platform where you could download all the companies using a specific technology in a few clicks.

He found the idea interesting and told me to start now. I had some background in scraping websites, and I love building bots. I was looking for a project I could develop for many years. One of my most critical mistakes in the past was that I lacked resilience. The thing is that if you want to succeed, you must be resilient. Thus, you must choose a project you will love working on it.

So this is how began ProspectWith.
