Hello Daizy & Prateek,
Firstly, I hope you two are doing well and staying safe and healthy in the midst of this global pandemic. I am emailing to let you both know that I came across your Punjabi Songs Explained podcast today on Spotify and I love it! I was just searching for Punjabi-language podcasts that would help me sharpen my Punjabi speaking skills. I grew up listening to Tera Yaar Bolda and didn’t know what the lyrics really meant until today, so thank you! My dad usually explains the lyrics of Punjabi songs to me when we listen to them together, but I no longer live at home and miss hearing these explanations. Because of this, your podcast is particularly enjoyable for me. I also really want to thank you for your contribution to the limited amount of resources available for Punjabi language-learning and cultural immersion, especially as a contribution from two fellow Punjabi women ☺️ I just have a little friendly feedback for you ladies: the volume of the song clip is a little higher than that of your commentary on it, so if you would be able to adjust the volume of the clip to keep the volume consistent throughout the podcast, that would be great. Also, I noticed that Prateek’s voice tends to sound much more faint/distant than that of Daizy’s. I love hearing her explanations, so if your voices could be equally audible, that would be awesome! :) Finally, I do have a suggestion for your next episode, another iconic oldie but goodie: Tere Tille Ton by Kuldeep Manak ✨ I love this song but realize I don’t understand a lot of it haha. Hope to hear more of you two!! 💕
Best regards,
Harkiran Kaur

So so hard to hire a female freelancer in India to edit this, I gave it to a few people and some of them made the sound worse. I realise I just need to record in a better setup now (ie my sister needs to be closer to the mic). The first 2 recordings need a proper audio engineer to fix them.

It's actually really bad quality audio because my sister won't take the project seriously. Editing was the biggest challenge, need to get an editor if I'm to continue this project but it'll be hard because they need to speak Punjabi and know how to edit.
The idea of this came because I know so many people across the world listen Punjabi music and have no idea what it means - I thought it would be fun to translate because when I first learned about Chamkila's lyrics I was so surprised but it was also hilarious - then I realised no one knows what his lyrics mean. Don't know if I'll ever besharam enough to do one of his songs on this podcast.

I realise so many others like me don't know the meaning of popular punjabi songs that we've been listening to for year. So my sister and I translate them in a fun way, making commentary on culture as we go.
