QA Sidekick
Ship faster with more efficient manual testing
<insert spongebob one eternity later meme>
After a couple of years of not working on it, I've come into some time. So I cleaned up the landing page, some of the internals, and recorded a demo video.
QA Sidekick has gone live on Product Hunt today. I would appreciate any feedback you could share on there https://www.producthunt.com/posts/qa-sidekick.
A critical but non-feature update for QA Sidekick: the major browser vendors are changing how browser extensions are built, with the migration from Manifest v2 to Manifest v3.
This has meant doing some refactoring to get things working the new way.
Google and Microsoft have a deadline of Jan 2023 for updating extensions on their respective platforms. Happy to share I have completed the refactor for Chrome and Edge :)
Mozilla is still undecided how they want to handle the Manifest v3 changes, so a Firefox update will come at a later time.

Congrats, so you already jumped through Google’s hoops? For other people procrastinating like me they extended the deadline to Jun 2023.

Google will still punish v2 extensions in Jan by removing the featured badge. I wouldn’t be surprised if that also affects store search results so I definitely want to try having my extension SnipCSS migrated by then.

Oh, how interesting! Always good to get things out the way but nice they've extended the deadline.

Continued to beta test the product, except now without a sign up wall.
Before when you tried to sign up, you would be added to a mailing list and I would be notified, and I would manually grant them access to continue signing up.
Now anyone can sign up and take the website and extension for a spin.

I've been building cross platform extensions, making sure they're available for Chrome, Firefox and Edge.
Today was the release of the first fully functional and fully featured version of the extension.
It allows the user to submit extra information about the page they are testing, as well as an image and a HTML snapshot.

Began doing some beta testing for the application. Share it on Twitter and received some feedback, as well as some potential users who wanted to try it out.
Received some good feedback on the landing page, as well as this being something that might be very much needed.
Took a lot longer than I would have liked to get to this point but we're here!

Up until this point, the Settings page for the Organisation was a single page, with shabby UI. This was because there were other priorities, as well as just getting the actual functionality working.
This update overhauled the Settings Page with better UI using Tailwind CSS.

Did a custom Stripe implementation to set up the billing system.
I went with two tiers, plus a basic free tier.
Basic: £0/month.
Starter: £49/month.
Business: £149/month.
You can also pay yearly, and get 2 months for free if you do. Also, since I'm using an existing company which is VAT registered in the UK, I've set up a system to verify that you're a company before you pay. This was because as far as I'm aware, Stripe does not let you restrict users to companies.

Shared the initial landing page to allow people to be kept notified about when the beta launches.
A website and browser extension that helps speed up manual testing and gathering internal feedback for teams that build websites.

Testing your website's newest features right before a launch can be very tedious. QA Sidekick is the best way to provide feedback and report bugs during the testing process.
