QuantDock

I’ve been working on a project called QuantDock and wanted to share it here to get feedback from other builders.

The idea came from a couple frustrations I kept running into when experimenting with trading strategies.

First, turning a trading idea into something testable usually requires writing code or learning a complex backtesting framework. A lot of traders have simple ideas like:

• buy when the 50-day moving average crosses the 200-day

• sell if price drops a certain percentage

• enter when momentum conditions are met

But turning those ideas into an actual trading bot takes much more effort than it should.

The second frustration was operational. Even after writing a strategy, you often need to keep a laptop or server running continuously to execute it.

So I started building QuantDock to simplify both parts.

The idea is to let users describe a trading strategy in plain English, convert it into structured trading logic, backtest it quickly, and then run it continuously without needing to keep their own machine online.

QuantDock can execute strategies automatically through the Alpaca trading API, so once a strategy is set up it keeps running in the background.

One of the interesting challenges has been translating natural language strategies into deterministic rules that a trading engine can actually execute. Natural language strategies tend to be vague, so the system has to enforce clear logic before running a backtest.

Right now I'm focusing on:

• translating natural language strategies into structured trading rules

• fast backtesting so ideas can be evaluated quickly

• running strategies continuously without users managing infrastructure

I’m still early and would love feedback from this community.

A few questions I'm thinking about:

• Would you trust an AI-generated trading strategy enough to test it?

• What safeguards would you want before running something like this live?

• Are there tools people here use to test trading ideas?
