May 30, 2020 Finished MVP

It took a little longer than I expected, but after 4 weeks I finally finished the minimum viable product for Queu. Quarantine gave me a lot of free time to chip away at it, and I learned a ton during the development process. In hindsight, I probably spent too long polishing the MVP, but I'm glad it’s in a stable state and excited to see what people think of it.

Cool product. Whats your plan for go-to-market?

Thanks! Right now the MVP is available at https://join.queu.tv and I'm looking to get some people using it, to help shape the product a bit, before I try and take it to a larger audience.

Great. First off, I love the simplicity—it would be easy to over-complicate an aggregator like this. There was very little friction in the process of setting up an account to watching (although the show I tried watching actually never loaded).

I wonder if you could do subscription aggregating here too. Could you manage prime, Netflix, or HBO subscriptions from one location. Could users buy multiple services as a "Queue bundle"? From a feasibility standpoint, this would mean Queue would actually be the one subscribing to these streaming services and then providing for its users at a bundled price. Or users just transfer ownership of their subscriptions to Queue where it can be managed in one location.
In terms of competition, 'RealGood' looks like they provide a similar service (https://reelgood.com). That being said, you could differentiate. I really like the concept of a queue and I wonder if that can somehow be integrated into the platform. Users build a queue of shows they want to watch or are interested in and can add to it from anywhere. I wonder if you could create a feature like Shazam for movies? If someone is watching a show, or advertisement, they could “Queue it” (like scanning for a song on Shazam) and it would be added to their queue on your platform.

Hey, sorry for the late reply. Thanks for such a detailed write up! I really like the ideas you have; the "Queu bundle" in particular is a really intriguing concept.

One of most prevalent pieces of feedback i've gotten has been about making Queu available on other devices. I've been toying around the last couple of days with a better way to handle streaming the content, so building new clients for phones, TVs, game consoles, etc. is quick and efficient. I think this new method may also allow for the "Queu bundle" to work from a technical standpoint! (It should also greatly improve the reliability of Queu)

I'm going to take the weekend and attempt to get a PoC up and running for this new content streaming method.

          Thanks again for the feedback.

I do think it's a really useful app for those who use chrome browser to watch their shows. For people like me who use our TV's, I wish I had an built in app that could keep all the shows together in one app.

Hey, thanks for the reply! I 100% agree, and it’s my goal to release app versions of Queu on more platforms as time goes on.

About

Queu was born out of my frustrations with the streaming market, and its seemingly endless fragmentation into more and more new platforms.
