November 19, 2024 Why Do Job Applications Feel So Broken?

The job application process was meant to unlock potential. But instead, it leaves so many of us feeling inadequate.

Think about it. We spend years building skills, navigating challenges, and growing as individuals. And yet, when it’s time to apply for a job, all of that gets reduced to a few paragraphs on a screen. It doesn’t just fail us—it shrinks us.

That’s not how it should be.

What if there was a way to make this process empowering? A way to strip away the noise and focus on what actually matters: your story. Your growth. Your value.

This is the question I’ve been wrestling with. And while I don’t have all the answers yet, I believe one thing: this process can be reimagined.

Here’s my question for you:
What would it take for job applications to feel empowering instead of exhausting?

I don’t have a finished solution. Not yet. But I believe the first step is daring to ask, “Why does it have to be this way?”

If you’ve felt this frustration too, let’s talk. Together, we will reimagine this process.

Job hunting has been exhausting for me. As someone unemployed, explaining my skills and strengths—especially in writing—has been a huge challenge. Writing tailored cover letters feels overwhelming, outdated, and broken.
