January 11, 2026 Why I decided to build my own tool collection instead of using bloated alternatives

Hello Indie Hackers,

I’ve always been frustrated by how "heavy" most online utility websites have become. Every time I just want to generate a quick QR code or a secure password, I have to navigate through dozens of pop-up ads, cookie consents, and slow-loading scripts.

So, I decided to build QuickTools Global.

What is it?

It’s a minimalist collection of web-based utilities—Password Generator, QR Code Creator, Word Counter, and Base64 Encoder—all in one place.

The core philosophy:

  1. Privacy-First: Everything is processed on the client side (in your browser). No data is ever sent to a server.

  2. Lightweight: Built with vanilla JavaScript and minimal CSS to ensure it loads instantly anywhere in the world.

  3. No Friction: No login, no paywalls, just the tools you need.

The Tech Stack:

I kept it extremely simple: HTML5, CSS3, and Vanilla JS. For the QR generation, I’m using the qrcode.js library.

My Goal:

I’m targeting global users who value speed and privacy. I’m currently looking for ways to scale the traffic and perhaps add more niche developer tools in the future (like JSON formatters or unit converters).

I’d love your feedback on:

  • The UI/UX—is it "too" simple or just right?

  • What other essential tools do you use daily that are currently too "bloated" on other sites?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and connecting with fellow builders!
