Quiet Quitter tracks how much you're on the toilet, taking a break, or working on a side hustle.
Although the app's name shamelessly co-opts the "quiet quitting" movement (whether or not you believe it exists or is actually a propagandist phrase to discredit work-to-rule), the idea started from a recurring joke my mom would tell whenever a new "richest person alive" got crowned.
The joke being the trivial fact that CEOs get paid thousands of dollars to go to the bathroom. Tim Cook, at $49 Million a year, makes $1,963.14 for every five minute bathroom break he takes during the day. That said, it's not just executives that can enjoy that feeling. Personally, I've calculated that value for every job I've taken. I don't mean to abuse taking breaks; it's frankly just nice to know.
This last holiday break, with some inspiration and encouragement from some friends, I finally got around to building the app.
To make the app more fun (i.e. actually maybe worth downloading), I've made it a full on anti-productivity app. It contains weekly challenges that encourage you to slack up to 40 hours in a given week and earn while slacking how much Elon Musk does in a single second (really in 2020 but computing the Twitter loss stuff was less fun).
It also contains a stats page that shows how much you slacked compared to the average American worker for the last day, month, and year. You'd really be surprised how much people goof off. Even if you're not purposefully trying to goof off it's kind of reassuring to compare the numbers.
The end goal of the app is for people to have fun with it. I don't mean to encourage anyone to self-sabotage their work relationships, careers, or otherwise. But hey, if you hate your job, you might enjoy obsessively tracking how much they pay you to not work.
Quiet Quitter is available on iOS and Android. You can find a link to both store pages here: https://getquietquitter.com
