Converting dumb quotes to smart quotes is a fairly niche use case. It could be used by word processors, content management systems, or any system with text editing.

While this is an important use case, we're evaluating new features that can improve our product offering. Punctuation generally is a domain which are looking closely at.

Feature ideas:

1. Support converting ASCII characters to HTML entities
2. Convert -- and --- to – and —
3. Convert ... to an ellipsis character …

Our product launched with an initial API now available. Used the following stack:

Next.js/Vercel
React
Node
Blobr
Tailwind

The tools above allowed us to launch relatively quickly after creating the API for processing. It was a few short weeks of work.

Initial idea when chatting with a friend about text processing challenges with punctuation. Did some initial research on open source or paid services and nothing ticked enough boxes, so I went ahead and got to work on an API to cover some know edge cases.
