High Intensity Interval Training, Randomly

January 25, 2023 Time to revisit Random Hiit

I've not done anything with this app for years, though it's still online and functional. Just did a few rounds today.

I did just start to rework it. The design isn't great. There are some audio issues when on apple devices. And some of the functionality like restart doesn't really work right.

The other day I started rebuilding. Start fresh with some of the old code. I'm not a programmer so it's slow-going, but progress has been made. I've got it working a little better than the current version. A new logo, color scheme and design. It's still going to be basic, no frills, but might help guide me to grow it more.

Make a few bucks possibly. I want to work on getting the design a little more polished in the coming week.

October 9, 2019 A new logo and...

that's it. I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out a workout counter, so people who finish can see a cumulative number from everyone who completed a session before them. Not really important, but I wanted to test the waters with creating a database and making that all work.

I don't know enough about programming to solve the problem right now. I've come close. Getting it to sorta work, but I want to shelve it for a minute.

I did create a new logo. Better than the previous one and will work for the time being. Creating a roadmap and tiny tweaks are in the future for this app. It still does what I wanted it to do, allowing me to have random high intensity interval workouts.

September 9, 2019 Testing out in a different country

I and some family members did a few random HIIT sessions while on vacation. It worked well and they seemed to enjoy it. Provided positive reinforcement to continue refining the app and make it better for more than just myself.

Since it's basically just a website with some js for now, I made the file sizes small to deal with limited internet.

August 27, 2019 Got Git Working

First, I have no idea what I'm doing and it took way too long to get it working, but I finally got my git repo setup properly. Previously I would just ftp into the server and drag and drop.
I don't program so this all is a major learning process. From coding the app and getting it to where it is now, was a long climb. Glad to be at the top of the first mountain!

Git really is a steep climb if you're learning it on your own, so don't feel bad that it took a while!

August 20, 2019 Usability Bump

After getting the MVP to work, I knew I had to figure out a few things to make it more useable. Mainly simple audio cues and keeping the screen to stay away while the 7 minute exercise is going on.

This was actually not as difficult as I thought. True it did take time because I'm still very green with programming, but I accomplished what I wanted.

I've done at least a half dozen workouts using the app and it's exactly what I wanted. I know a few others have tested it out and enjoyed it. Puts a smile on my face!

August 15, 2019 MVP is Operational!

I've had this exercise app idea for years. Tried to make it a few times, but gave up when I got stuck. So I decided to take another stab at it.

And got it working! First usable version had no audio cues for when to rest or move. When using the web app on my phone, would have to tap it to keep it awake.

It exists because I wanted to have HIIT workouts that weren't the same each time. Keeping it fresh and challenging.
