rDrop

Under a week I've been able to build rDrop.link (using the NoCode/LowCode Sktch.io platform) and today is the big day, I'm launching on Product Hunt!

Here's the launch results:
27 upvotes and the app ended in position 18. Honestly, it didn't went as well as I hoped but it's still a good start.

So far 426 files were transferred using rDrop!
Things I've learned:

• I made a typo in the PH title: rDop instead of rDrop! That's a massive mistake 🤦🤦🤦
• I should have pushed the PH post a lot sooner in the early hours of the day instead of waiting until the morning.
• PH is great for this kind of launch, but to build an actual user base around the product, there needs to be continuous effort in marketing.

That's the plan for the next days:more marketing!

I'm ready to launch it on Product hunt tomorrow hopefully!

I've had many issues making the P2P work specifically on Safari/Webkit browsers... It's very painful to deal with it especially some really weird bugs such as needing to ask for camera permission to open the WebRTC data channel...

Anyway, so far everything seems to be working really well!

Here's the stack I'm using:

• Sktch.io : NoCode/LowCode Front-end & Backend editor.
• WebRTC API for the networking.
• Qrious and QR-Scanner libraries for QR scanning
• FFlate for Zipping a bunch of transferred files for quick download.

I've decided to build 10 projects this year and rDrop.link is project #2.

I plan on working on this side-project full-time for about 2 weeks.

It's such a pain to transfer files from my computer back to my phone! When I make video content especially it's a super painful process!

Why not a simple web-app where you can transfer files from one device to another without relying on a third-party. A simple P2P service that uses the WebRTC API...
