A promising launch on reddit

Right after putting finishing touches on MVP of the website, I have posted it on subreddit r/learnmath.

After 1 day it was nr 1 post on the subreddit, and after 3 days it gathered over 350 likes.

I got more than 2000 page views and more than 600 user visists.

But what is more important than numbers, are peoples reactions:

"I love you"

"You there sir, you're a hero! Thank you."

"Whoa, this repo is what many of us (particularly those in Engineering research) need!"

"I really needed something like this."

(Note how these 2 last posts say NEEDED)

Not only that, I have seen my link was shared on facebook by somebody, without me asking for that.

On the website there is a link to simple google form allowing people to submit math resources they know about. I already have 30 submissions which I have to go through.

All these things show me that there is a pretty good potential for my project to be successful, which makes me very happy and motivates me to continue working on it.

Next step will be putting some fixes based on user feedback, adding new content and adding some social media stuff to start building a community.

After that I will launch on other platforms, like hacker news, other math/science-centered subreddits and some facebook groups.

Wow! How lucky you are! Congratulations man!!! I am really happy someone did it!

It will be super great if you can have backlinking to your website! It will boost your SEO I guess

I was not lucky with that as you hahaha I never used reddit before, and I tried to launch in /r/gardening the worlwide community for houseplants lovers I'm building that is called chooseyourplant.com, and It was strange to me that instantly, it's been removed. It took me 40 minutes to write that content.

Today I was planning to launch on PH, but it will take me super long again to write everything!

I tried posting my project on a hyper relevant subreddit, I got pre-approval from the mods and then another mod disagreed so strongly he took it down and I haven't managed to get it back up :(

Reddit is very hostile to any form of self promotion these days from what I see.

    Congrats though!

      I am definitely lucky.

Mathematicians are rarely a target for online products, so they are not so defensive.

Also, currently everything I am offering on my website is 100% free. I don't even have ads, hence it's easy for me to promote this website without any negative reactions.

I am just bringing pure value right now. :)

Congrats and thanks for sharing. How do you plan to monetize in the future?

My product is the same, free and no ads, the relevant subreddits above 10k subs said I couldn't post. No self-promotion of any kind, no matter how relevant it is.

    Congrats! Sounds like a success!

Congrats! Reddit can be very hostile, so its nice you had a promising experience there!
