Reconcile

The app is ready with support for free trials and paid subscriptions & I've got all of the credentials/environment switch over to prod so I can accept real users! Time to make a marketing push. I haven't done this before, but I started with writing a Medium post to try and garner a lit bit of attention.

I honestly probably could've called my MVP done quite a while ago but I was too focused on adding more functionality that I wanted (support for pending & recurring transactions). After integrating Stripe to make sure I had a way to charge my customers I realized the free tier I wanted to offer was likely going to cost me too much and had to do a slight pivot to free trial + only paid plans.

After moving in with my girlfriend we had more and more expenses that we were sharing every week. Sticking with Splitwise to make sure no one was paying too much I became increasingly frustrated with having to look at multiple credit card statements and copy and paste data back and forth into the Splitwise app. Not having a full time job and plenty of time on my hands, it seemed like a good time to start building it out.

I'm not sure when I first thought of the idea, but it was definitely floating around in my head for a year or two before I started working on it. Looking at Splitwise's uservoice forum, I'm definitely not the only person to have thought of it too. Lots of people have requested it as a feature for Splitwise, but with no apparent traction with their product team I figured why not build it myself.
