Redeal

This got me by surprise. My side project earned me 5 euro this week! This happened the same week I added an ability to pay on the website with: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/.

I am thrilled! It's the first product I am building on my own and it's just incredible to see that people appreciate it! The message that the person was really loving it (with really repeated 3 times) made it even better :).

The app is hosted now on a nice, easy to remember domain: redeal.app and it's quite functional.

Last week:

• I got two users after a demo for a very niche real estate investor group I am a member off.

This week:

• first user I didn't talk to, but who found out redeal.app independently and used a big part of the functionality

This has most likely resulted from the fact that I have a link to landing.redeal.app on my investing blog and I've been promoting this blog (sharing on reddit and fb).

The new users engaged pretty thoroughly with the app and one of them encountered a bug that I later fixed! I have sentry.io set up, so I can quickly learn about issues. I reached out to them over email and they will send me more feedback about the app lately. I also added 'contact' page in the app to make it easier for the users to provide feedback.

I haven't been promoting the app very actively so far, because I wanted to finish up some stuff like privacy policy and some other improvements.

I built a usable version of the app and deployed some sort of staging version of it. Not the target domain, not all the functionality. But some end to end functionality! With https and google sign in! So, not too bad!

Yeah, the first user was my friend. Some other users who I manually convinced to give it to try it out found out unexpected problems with signups.

I created a google doc to write down my general idea for the app. The same doc is also my rough project brainstorming journal.

I was excited to work on something that solves my actual need (better real estate analysis) and is also an opportunity to learn indie hacking and to dabble into some interesting tech.

Some idea excerpts:

• Help with the deal analysis through a guided process and store a editable report
• Provide additional data to make the deal analysis better, e.g. comparable prices for rent and selling
• Observing trends
