April 7, 2025 Regex Forge 1.5.0 Update: Local LLM Support & UI Redesign

Regex Forge just got smarter. This update adds support for local LLMs through Ollama (a feature requested by a user), so you can now run models like Mistral or LLaMA directly on your machine - no internet connection, no privacy worries, and no usage fees.

The AI assistant also got a fresh new interface, heavily inspired by the ChatGPT Mac app. I’ve also added quick actions for common regex tasks, like explaining or improving your current pattern, and made a few small bug fixes to improve the experience.

March 10, 2025 Regex Forge 1.3.0 Update: ECMA-262 Validation & More

Regex Forge just got better! This update introduces ECMA-262 Validation Mode, making it easier to ensure your regular expressions are fully compatible with JavaScript. Also, I’ve made a small usability improvement by enabling the multiline regex option by default when creating a new pattern.

April 1, 2024 Landing page stats

A quick update after launching the landing page week ago.

✨ 60 visits mainly coming from AlternativeTo, Indie Hackers and X/Twitter. One third was from unknown source
✨ 15 email sign ups to the waitlist

I've been posting daily on various SaaS/Software directories since the launch. Not all have confirmed my submission yet, so I expect more traffic in the coming weeks.

March 23, 2024 Launched a landing page

It's been just three exciting weeks since I decided to create a regex editor for macOS called Regex Forge.

I wanted to showcase the editor's potential on the landing page, so I built a mockup using SwiftUI. While a tool like Figma could've saved time, coding the mockup gave me a head start on building the actual app.

Now, the landing page is ready, complete with an email grab form to capture interest. My next step? Spread the word about Regex Forge in as many places as possible!

About

Love regex, hate web tools (privacy!). Existing macOS editors are good, but there's room for improvement. That's why I'm building Regex Forge!
