What It Is
We are starting Rekindle.Chat, and somefully sometime soon. It's an authentication-less chat room platform for teachers, students and strangers.
Why It's Being Built
Odd group of target users? Let me explain.
The idea of ReKindle.Chat was born when I was in college, sitting in a computer lab. You see in our labs, we don't have designated computers for each student. Also the computers are often reset and re-installed with Windows / Ubuntu.
The problem is that everytime we sit at one of these computers, we absolutely must go through the painstaking process of logging in to all our accounts including email, just to communicate with the lecutrer and lab partners for the next 2 hours until the class ends and repeat the process again for the next class.
What if there was a frinction-less but feature-rich chatroom solution that allowed the lecturer to communicate with the students seamlessly, and the students with the lecturer and with each other.
Rekindle.Chat is born.
Planned Features
- No Login / Sign Up because that would defeat the entire purpose.
- Send Images, Files & Code many of the existing tools lack features enough to be useful.
- Email Yourself the Conversation almost every other tool requires some form of signup to persist messages. We just let you email it to yourself.
- Floating QR Code Using the picture-in-picture API we will enable the lecturer to go do other things like presenting while keeping a QR code and room joining details always-on-top
- Complete Free (would love feedback on this one) we're planning to make this an ad-supported platform.
Use Cases
Education
- Lecturers will open ReKindle Chat on their computer that is connected to a projector.
- Students will all either
- Scan the QR code on screen.
- Enter the joining code after navigating to Rekindle Chat
- Everyone talks to each other in a matter of seconds.
Digital Nomads / Coworking Space Subscribers
So you meet someone in a foreign country or when you're sipping your latte in a co-working space or cafe. You end up talking and you end up ideating a really cool startup idea and suddenly you need a digital form of communication fast.
