RelayMail
Keep your email hidden from undesirables.
After some feedback on IndieHackers, it's time to build MVP v2! I'm happy with the current features available in v1, but I know we can offer so much more.
So, what am I planning for v2?
- SMS Aliases
- New look and feel
- Better onboarding to get users up and running quickly
- Trimming out the fat (shared inbox, an unused feature).
Managed to squeeze in some new features today in between my day-job work!
So, what's new?
-
We're no longer limiting free plan's to 20 messages, instead, it's 7 days of messages! Don't worry, we don't delete them unless you request it, so once you upgrade you'll be able to see all those messages.
-
We now show some billing alerts on the home page. If your trial is ending within 5 days or if your subscription has been cancelled, we let you know!
-
We fixed the email rendering, we now render them server side using unique preview-tokens. What does this mean? Well, it means that only you can read the html emails.
Doesn't sound like much, but it's a lot of work! Checkout the updated version at https://relaymail.app

Took me a while to get it up and running, but I got there!
This project took me a lot longer to release the beta of than usual, that's because I started learning VueJS and NuxtJS, and this product is the result of what I've learned.
Of course, the product is far from done, I have plenty of ideas and tasks in my backlog that I'm working hard to get done.
For those interested, the stack is:
- Laravel 7 (for the API)
- nuxtjs (for the web app & main site)
- DigitalOcean (servers, spaces)
- Netlify (for hosting the pwa & main site)
- Mailgun for outbound and inbound email.

I had the idea to start RelayMail after a shopping trip with a few friends lead to me having to give out my email multiple times for digital receipts.
I hate exposing my email address, especially when I don't know the company's privacy policy.
So, RelayMail is the product of my frustration! It works by essentially being a proxy for your real email address.
You simply create aliases through our web app, and use that alias email everywhere you wish. We then do the heavy lifting with routing alias emails to your real address!

I started building RelayMail as I kept getting marketing spam to my main email address.
