August 14, 2025 How a European e-commerce giant accidentally built a SaaS product
  1. Tile.Expert was already spinning €25 million a year selling ceramics across Europe. 105 employees, warehouses in different countries, clients from Stockholm to Rome.

The problem? Nobody wanted to sit in an office.

The best specialists lived anywhere — Prague, Barcelona, small Polish towns. Forcing talented people to relocate for an office seemed stupid.

"We're going fully remote," the CEO decided. But the tools kept failing. Slack turned into chaos, Trello drowned in cards, important decisions got lost in email chains.

Six years of experimenting with every tool on the market. Nothing fit a serious business with million-dollar turnover.

"Fine, we'll write our own," the IT department said.

Remote.team wasn't built for sale. It was an internal project for managing a €25M company remotely. It worked so well that partners started asking: "What platform are you using?"

Today, the solution born from the necessity of managing a ceramics business helps thousands of teams worldwide.

About

We built Remote.team because our own remote team at tile.expert was drowning in tool chaos – constantly jumping between Slack, Trello, Google Drive, and six other apps just to answer "What's everyone working on?"
