February 22, 2020 Product automated

After almost 2 months of manual work (selecting resumes, sending out resumes, etc.), I finally automated the website to make resume-downloads possible after payment. Took 1 week to design, code, and upload existing resumes of candidates into the database. Now need to work even harder on marketing! I wonder what are the most effective ways of promotion for b2b products?

February 7, 2020 Third paying customer!

It was my third paying client! Second on the website. (The first one paid me directly and did not go through the website) This client is not through referral - he is converted from a completely cold message! Yes, cold emails do still work! And also he asked for a couple of sample resumes before he paid, which is actually a good idea. Now I decided to add the trial service on to my website too, maybe it will increase conversion rate!

Congrats. I've got all of my clients with cold tweets. Keep going πŸ‘

I converted my first few customers this way too.

It's amazing how it actually works.

Cold-DM on Twitter, but yeah similar.

    Congratulations, by the way!

Awesome! The Remote Easy site is pretty clean. I immediately understand the offer. I'm looking into cold sales for my product as well. Do you offer any free hiring advice or some sort of checklist for evaluating a qualified prospect in your emails? Do you provide something of value for free to entice them to trust you and your service, or do you just do a hard sell?

I iterated my message several times. At first I sent out long email-like messages to explain what I can offer, and of course no one replied. Then I changed it to a short version, just 2-3 sentences to briefly summarize what I do and ask if they are interested to talk more. If they replied, then I got into details or ask them to jump on a phone call. And then in the conversation I'd offer some free trials for them to trust my service, not in the initial message.

I see. I would most likely be reaching out to design agencies. I was thinking about introducing the product with a few sentences and then offering a free download of a cheat sheet I have that they can white-label and send to their clients. The cheat sheet also helps with the problem my product solves.

      Thank you Jeremy!

February 1, 2020 Raised the price from $99 to $199

After my first client, I realized the price can be higher as $100 doesn't really make much difference for companies. Also compared with the price per post on most job boards (normally $299 and $399), $199 with a guaranteed number of resumes actually makes sense.

January 8, 2020 Got my first paying customer!

It was through a friend's referral, but I made my first sales! An angel round SAAS startup based in Beijing is looking to hire more engineers and the founder paid me directly, hoping to receive some more resumes and make more connections. Although he didn't really check my website, the sales was build upon personal trust (because of our mutual friend who gave us an introduction), still I'm very happy!

January 2, 2020 Launched MVP website!

It only took 2 days for me to build up the simple landing page for RemoteEasy, in order to explain the business model. The part took most time is integrating with Stripe. The next thing is to reach out to as much people as possible to validate my idea and business model!

I'm a digital nomad, and I have my own nomad community (in China), so I'm trying to connect engineers from my community with tech startups for them to hire remotely.
