AI Background Remover & Image Editor

Like many indie founders, I spend a lot of time creating content, landing pages, product screenshots, and marketing assets.

One problem kept coming up over and over again:

I constantly needed to remove backgrounds, clean up images, erase unwanted objects, or remove text from screenshots.

The tools available were either too expensive, too complicated, or packed with features I rarely used.

Most of the time, I didn't need a full design suite.

I just wanted to upload an image, click a button, and get the result.

That's why I started building RemoveLayer.

The original goal was simple: create a fast and focused image cleanup tool that solves common editing tasks without requiring design skills.

Instead of trying to become another all-in-one editor, I decided to focus on the jobs people perform most often:

  • Removing backgrounds

  • Removing unwanted objects

  • Removing text from images

As I continued building, I became increasingly interested in how people actually search for these solutions.

I discovered that users rarely search for "AI image editor."

They search for specific outcomes such as "background remover" or "remove object from photo."

That insight shaped both the product and the way I think about building software.

Today, RemoveLayer helps users clean up images in seconds directly from their browser.

We're still early in the journey, but the vision remains the same:

Make image editing simple enough that anyone can get professional-looking results without learning complex software.

I'm excited to keep improving the product, adding new workflows, and learning from the indie hacker community along the way.

Thanks for stopping by, and I'd love to hear your feedback.

The search-intent insight is probably the strongest part here.

You’re right that people don’t usually search for “AI image editor.” They search for the job they need done right now: remove background, erase object, remove text, clean product image, fix screenshot, etc.

I’d lean harder into that instead of positioning RemoveLayer as one broad image cleanup tool.

The sharper path might be workflow pages around specific urgent use cases:

    product photo cleanup for sellers
    screenshot cleanup for founders
    marketing image cleanup for creators
object removal for quick social assets

That gives you both SEO surface area and clearer conversion intent.

The product promise is not really “simple image editing.” It’s closer to: fix one messy image problem in seconds without opening a design tool.

That framing feels more ownable and easier to rank/convert around.
