November 23, 2020 First paying customers

After a pretty quiet start to my AppSumo deal, it finally produced my first few paying Rentify customers - I've had three sign up for the LTD over the course of the past week.

I'm planning on building on this initial success, and using this momentum to finish work on the advanced tier features

October 16, 2020 Launched AppSumo deal

I decided to try and get some early users for Rentify by offering a deal on AppSumo:
https://appsumo.com/rentify/

It's a big discount on the standard annual price, but I'm hoping it will give me some initial revenue and early user feedback.

One advantage that I didn't expect was that AppSumo totally rewrote my copy in a much nicer way (marketing not my strong point) and I'm planning to implement this on my landing page too

Thanks, I've already had a user promise to signup on this deal, which would be my first - will send a follow up post to let everyone know how successful this turns out to be

October 12, 2020 Launched on PH

I just launched Rentify on ProductHunt. If you're interested in taking a look, or possibly even giving it an upvote, the URL is here:
https://www.producthunt.com/posts/rentify.

I've never had a huge amount of success with previous PH launches, and I haven't really done any proper preparation in advance of this one, but hoping for the best!

Hey Chris! Good luck with the launch and congrats! I gave you an upvote, hope it helps!

I'm writing an ebook on PH launches if you need a copy, see my Twitter feed, there's a link for a sign up where I will notify people when it's ready.

Best of luck to you and Rentify!

Thanks! I probably should have looked at your ebook already, I've done next to no prep for this

it's not quite out yet ;) no worries, PH is not critical to success, I don't think.

September 26, 2020 Soft launched on IH

After building the application and pushing it live, I shared Rentify on IH for some initial feedback on the landing page. I received some good feedback regarding mobile layout, adding footers and a FAQ section which I will implement before trying to direct more traffic to the site

September 1, 2020 Started building the product

Once I settled on a product idea, I started to build it. I chose my normal tech stack for this - the backend is built in Django with graphene for the API for the frontend. The backend is hosted on AWS behind and elastic load balancer and a Postgres DB in RDS. The frontend, landing page and store are all built in vuejs with vuetify and are hosted on netlify

August 26, 2020 Chose the idea

I first gained the idea for Rentify from Kevin Conti’s software ideas newsletter. As a non- ideas man myself, it was great to have a well thought out product idea with guidance on the best way to execute it. Having been put off from renting equipment myself from small companies who do not provide the ability to book online myself, so I could Immediately see the value in a product like this
