Starting to build in public with my first product: ReportForge.

## The short version

Millions of office workers spend hours every week copy-pasting data into the same Excel templates. Same layout, different numbers. Same formulas, different month.

There are tools that can solve this, such as VBA, Power Automate, Python scripts, etc., but they all require some level of technical skill or IT involvement to set up. That leaves a gap for the office manager or accountant who just wants to automate their Monday morning report without filing a support ticket.

ReportForge is a Windows desktop app that fills that gap. Import a template with placeholders, connect a CSV, map the fields, generate. Set up in 5 minutes, data never leaves the machine. No IT department needed, no cloud dependency, no learning curve.

## Why I'm building this

As a developer, I've seen firsthand how repetitive report generation eats up people's time, and how the technical barrier keeps most of them stuck doing it manually. It felt like a problem worth solving in a way that doesn't require someone like me to be involved every time.

ReportForge is the first product under BoringWorx, a suite of standalone productivity tools that will each do one thing well. The philosophy: boring problems, solved simply.

## The business model

- Free tier with 3 templates (genuinely useful, not a crippled demo)

- Pro at $19/month for unlimited templates + PDF export + scheduling

- Business and Enterprise tiers coming later

- Solo dev, bootstrapped, no outside funding

- Target: $1K MRR by month 4

## Where things stand

- Desktop app is feature-complete and in testing

- Excel generation handles everything from simple single-value reports to 10,000+ row data tables with formula expansion

- PDF export working (just solved a gnarly rendering pipeline issue this week)

- Backend infrastructure deployed, with Azure Functions API, Stripe payments, automated license delivery

- Pre-launch site live and collecting emails at boringworx.com

- Planning public launch in the coming weeks
