Resona

Read and listen at the same time

February 4, 2026 I read 50 books a year but remembered nothing—so I choose Resona.

The premise is simple, fellow devs.

We spend our lives consuming docs, newsletters, and books, but most of it never sticks. I wanted to fix my own "leaky brain" and turn passive consumption into actual knowledge.

The Solution: Read and listen at the same time with synchronized text highlighting.

I built Resona to make this "dual-modality" learning seamless. It forces your brain to engage with the content through two channels at once, massively boosting retention.

  • Active Highlighting: Follow along visually as you listen.

  • Deep Focus: Harder for your mind to wander when you're reading + listening.

  • 100% Free: Built for learners, by a learner.

I'd love for you guys to take it for a spin and let me know if it helps you retain those deep-dive technical books better.

Tech stack: This part is really interesting we don't have any servers at all entirety of our TTS generation happens locally I hate to admit but we are very proud of what we build in terms of infrastructure, we use PiperTTS with sherpa-onnx as our engine for running onnx models we split the text on the screen into sentences and start generating them while utilising CPU to the fullest and the end result is a little wait while the model gets loaded into RAM after that near instant read aloud functionality.

Sorry to geek out at the end :)

About

I like using read aloud while I am reading for boosted knowledge retention but solutions on the market was either paid or not good enough and reading from desktop was a pain. So me and colleage choose Resona.
