Resume Worded
Instant feedback on your resume and LinkedIn profile
Launched this product on Product Hunt yesterday.
We compiled a list of actionable career advice from the world's most successful people. Each piece of advice is accompanied with a few 'Key ideas' so you can quickly get value.
I'd also really love your feedback on what this could evolve into (if anything!). This is just an initial version. Right now we curated links and distilled the core ideas on this page. But going forward, I'd love to have some more original content (e.g. interviewing people and sharing their advice in small nuggets).
Just wanted to share a quick new mini tool by my colleague - Amy who made this resource - she'll be joining IH soon!
A bit of background - for 3 years now we've been creating a number of career resources - including resume, LinkedIn or networking support - as part of Resume Worded.
We wanted to start creating resources around helping people better prepare for their interviews.
The most common interview question is, "Do you have any questions for me?" - it's at the end of the interview and it's an opportunity for the interviewee to learn if the company is the right fit for them. Most first-time interviewees gloss over this question, and answer, "No questions!", but that's a missed opportunity. This resource gives job seekers a few ideas on what they can ask.

I hope everyone's been keeping well during everything that's been going on.
Wanted to share something we've been working on. It's a step-by-step guide that shows people how to build their network and get a job referral.
We built this directly in response to tons of users asking specifically about how to go about networking. People seemed to want some sort of a networking plan, and this is what we tried to build. It starts with fixing up things like your resume/LinkedIn profiles, then dives into how to find and connect with new people on LinkedIn and finishes up with how to set up calls with them.

Hey everyone! Short update here - we recently revamped one of our products and we've been working on a new landing page that helps say what it's all about.
The tool scans your CV and tells you how you can improve it based on a number of key criteria. Criteria include simple checks like CV length, to more advanced checks such as core competencies and hard skills.

Still tweaking it but wanted to get it out there when it was ready!

Hey IH! Many of my users who use my tools ask me for help writing a summary for their LinkedIn profile. So I spent the last few days designing this!
The LinkedIn summary is one of the most important components of your profile on LinkedIn - it's usually the first thing that people read and helps you create a great first impression. Plus, when written correctly, you can also use this space to say what kinds of opportunities you're looking for.
But it's often really tedious to write! So most people just leave this blank.
This tool gives you a sample summary depending on who you are, and comes with a number of real-time tips and an editor to help you write an effective summary.

I'm going to be integrating this with my main product soon too!

A number of my users, particularly students, asked for more inspiration for their LinkedIn profiles. I'm going to start putting together great examples of LinkedIn profiles, and today I'm going to start with LinkedIn headlines, which is one of the primary components of the LinkedIn profile.
Hoping that students and jobseekers are able to find value out of this mini tool!

The most common method of filtering candidates that companies/employers use are ATS, or applicant tracking systems.
These are resume screening software that parse your resume and work experience to make sure it aligns with the job requirements of the role.
Unfortunately, these systems are often very old, and can't really read some of the creative multi-column resume templates that many people use.
To make sure your resume can be read by one of these systems, you should upload it to our free resume scanner. It evaluates your resume across a number of tests, including its readability (e.g. by ATS), impact and style.

After looking at your landing page it actually made me realize a few things about my own. You talk a lot about what your site does but it doesn't really tell me WHY I should use it. Yes I get feedback on my resume but why does that matter? Sell the WHY someone should use your site instead of the What it does. Don't discard that content but put the WHY up front.

The headline is one of the most important components of the LinkedIn profile.
It plays a huge part in determining what you show up in search results for and the number of opportunities you get through LinkedIn.
We made a quick inspiration tool that suggests LinkedIn headlines you can use when updating your own.
I think you'll find it useful regardless of if you're a student looking for a job or a business owner trying to get leads on LinkedIn.

Great tool. I used it to generate ideas for my LinkedIn Profile - https://www.linkedin.com/in/billflitter/ Also used your main tool to spruce up my LinkedIn profile. Scored a 90 out of the gate.
We've all heard about how important networking is, regardless of if you're searching for a new job, wanting to expand your professional contacts, or just learning more about an industry.
But, how are you supposed to grow and cultivate that network? How do you email your old and existing contacts without coming across as sleazy?
Link: https://www.networkingemails.com
Our book solves that. In the book, there is a proven email template for every networking situation you will ever find yourself in, including:
- Cold emailing alumni or influencers
- Following up with someone you met an event or conference
- Getting coffee with industry leaders or influencers
- Writing effective LinkedIn connection requests
- Following up if you don’t hear back
- Asking an industry leader for advice
- Getting an informational interview
- Getting job referrals
Every template also includes some insight on why the email was effective, to help you craft better emails.
Each of these emails has amazing copy and actually worked 💪(i.e. got an interview, a response, etc). Each template was also tweaked, so obviously names (e.g. company names, people names, etc) were changed for confidentiality.

Hi everyone!
I run a career platform, Resume Worded and some of the most common questions I get from my readers and users are about cover letters. Whenever anyone asks about them, I usually just send them a couple of good examples of cover letters they can use as inspiration.
I thought I'd curate a bunch of great samples so other people can use them as inspiration too! They're sourced from some excellent career guides by places like Harvard and Stanford (links to the original guides are included too!)

Hope you find them useful :) Any feedback or feature requests, let me know! 🙌
Thanks! 🙏
