ResumeRoast
AI that roasts your resume like a real recruiter
A few months ago, I started looking into AI resume tools because I wanted to understand how they were helping people improve their resumes.
After trying several of them, I noticed a pattern.
The feedback was usually the same:
"Add more metrics."
"Use stronger action verbs."
"Improve your formatting."
The advice wasn't always wrong, but it often felt generic. Some suggestions didn't even match the person's actual experience, and some AI tools would confidently suggest achievements that were never there.
That bothered me.
A resume is one of the most important documents someone has when looking for a job. Giving people advice that sounds impressive but isn't truthful can actually hurt them.
So I started building ResumeRoast — a tool that approaches resumes differently.
Instead of just checking keywords, it tries to review a resume the way a recruiter would:
What stands out?
What feels weak?
What would make someone keep reading?
What could be improved without exaggerating the person's experience?
The name comes from the idea that sometimes you need honest feedback, not another generic compliment.
ResumeRoast gives a direct breakdown of weaknesses, ATS insights, specific improvements, and helps rewrite parts of the resume while keeping the original experience truthful.
This is still early, but the first version is now live.
I’d love feedback from anyone who has applied for jobs, reviewed resumes, or has experience hiring.
About
ResumeRoast exists because most resume tools feel like keyword checkers, not career advice. They give generic suggestions that often don't match the person's actual experience.
