Nostalgia from the 2000s on modern hardware. Classic Snake!

May 14, 2022 My first experiment as an Indie Acquirer

I acquired @retrowidget in October 2021, because i couldn't shake the idea that with some capital, i could simply trade it for a SaaS biz/ app that provides great returns on my money. Capital spent: ~$2500$

My experiment was validated as organic customers still came in 6 months in, with a relatively stable (yet tiny) MRR and close to 0 time invested in growing this iOS app.
I make 4% month on month ROI. (Better than the S&P historical avg of 10% per YEAR). In the next 6 months, let's see where i can scale this to 📈

I wrote a more a detailed piece explaining my thesis on SaaS as an investment asset class here:

Congratulations on your progress but you mentioned better than S&P 500 yearly return. Do you have plans surviving rigorous year the S&P has done paying her investors ?

This is a good point. The S&P as an "index" has been around since 1957. The historical returns smoothened out over the past 65 years is around 10.5% CGAR (with massive fluctuations YoY ofcourse).

By no means any tech product will continue to compare to a broad market index of public companies. But if your goal (like mine) is medium term gains (e.g double your initial investment in like 4.1 years instead of 7 from the s&p) then it seems like a viable investment.

First acquisition as a test bed for future SaaS acquisitions. Small Bet. Organic sales and an evergreen concept surrounding nostalgia, made it a no-brainer acquisition.
