Ricotta Birthday Bot
Automate employee birthdays in Slack & MS Teams
Quick intro. We build team-building apps that live inside Slack and MS Teams, and Birthday Bot is our latest.
The reason it exists is pretty simple. Teams kept forgetting coworker milestones like birthdays and work anniversaries. Someone would remember at the last minute and scramble a message into a channel, or nobody would remember at all and it just passed by. On a remote team, that stuff adds up. The small human moments are a big part of what makes a team actually feel like a team.
So we built Birthday Bot to automate the remembering. It collects dates (via DM, Excel import, or manual add), then posts celebrations automatically on the right day, with content packs, GIFs, weekend and holiday smart scheduling, opt-outs, all of it. The goal was to make celebrating effortless so no one gets missed.
It's also part of a bigger thing we're building. We already had teams using Ricotta Games & Trivia and Ricotta Todos, and Birthday Bot rounds those out into a proper HR suite for Slack and Teams. One bundle, one bill, culture on autopilot.
Where we are now: live on both Slack and MS Teams.
One thing I'd genuinely love input on from this crowd. Distribution for apps that live inside Slack and Teams is weird. Most SaaS directories expect a standalone product with its own login, so a lot of the usual playbook doesn't apply. If you've cracked getting installs for a Slack or Teams native app, I'm all ears.
Happy to answer anything about the build or the bundling strategy too.
P.S. Check it out on Slack and Microsoft Teams. Some feedback would be lovely.
