February 25, 2021 Finished MVP πŸ—

Having a full-time job, friends, and girlfriend that I want to spend time with, it took me 1 month to finish the beta version of this project.

I chose technologies that I already know (or heard), so I would be confident implementing itπŸ‘‡

  • Nextjs
  • Strapi
  • Tailwindcss

I am happy with the results as the app is quite fast thanks to Nextjs (frontend) and Strapi (backend).

Tailwindss is a very good library for creating interfaces, and it's very difficult to mess something up.

How do you plan to attract reviewers to your site?

      Good question!

I am going to experiment with different strategies.

I thought about not allowing users to post if they don't have any comments (pattern from http://roastmygame.com). It looks a bit cruel but it seems to work.

As well as leaderboards, trophies, point systems, etc.

I didn't add it to MVP because there are no many posts/comments, but I am thinking to add it later.

Also, I am currently at the launch stage and gathering feedback from users about what they are looking for.

If you have any ideas, then I would be excited to hear them πŸ™‚

Yes, this is a really good question. Being a coder like yourself and never delivered a ready product or a working MVP means that I never got this far... but this is where things are getting really exciting and I would love to hear what will you come up with and what you learn.

Not being able to post before commenting is a neat trick. I feel it is similar how stackoverflow leads the newly registered users before allowing them to answer questions, upvotes and encouraging the right contributing behavior. I think there are ideas there that can be useful for your site too...

Good point, I will have a look at StackOverflow's strategy.

Thank you! Sure, I will share my knowledge about what I learned πŸ˜‰

Wish you good luck with it! What are you building? πŸ™‚

I am looking to build something simple. Like a Pomodoro tool. I know that there are thousands of them out there. But I just need to put out something that can stand as a product/service on its own... :)

January 25, 2021 Came up with idea πŸ’‘

Like many of you, I got inspired by Pieter Levels. I started reading his book "Make" and brainstorming with ideas.

After few days I got many shitty ideas, but there was one that I liked the most.

I noticed that there are not so many places where people can get feedback, receive critics and suggestions on their website so they can improve it, validate and get ideas.

People usually ask their friends for feedback or post it on different forums, but it's not a perfect solution.

So I decided to build Roast My Website that will help you to do it!
