Make better decisions

June 18, 2020 Live Collaboration and Guest mode

One of the main feature I always wanted was the ability to collaborate with other users on a matrix. I also wanted more people to try out the app so I also introduced guest mode.

Now you can make a matrix publicly editable and anyone can edit it even without an account. It also tracks each user cursor on the matrix and updates in real time.

I basically leveraged the power of Phoenix Presence which allow me to push changes from the server to all clients through websockets.

June 3, 2020 End of Alpha phase

All the features I've planned for the alpha phase is now done. This includes a Template Directory where anyone can view some example decision matrix to quickly get started.

I also started a series of articles on my blog, detailing the journey thus far while adding more templates to the application.

May 23, 2020 Finally a landing page!

Managed to quickly put together a simple landing site thanks to Tailwind UI. It's also hosted on the free static site plan on Render.com

The hardest part was actually preparing the screenshots on the page. It has to be real and able to convey what the application actually does.

May 17, 2020 Alpha test

I managed to get the app ready and started a small alpha test. I sent to a bunch of friends to gather some feedback.

The main feedback is the fact most people aren't familiar with Decision Matrix/Pug Method. Since I don't have a landing page ready at the moment, I figured I should add the ability to make a decision matrix public so people can easily share and clone it.

April 22, 2020 Better way to make decisions

It all started when I was exploring for ways to make better decisions. I was introduced to this concept named Pugh Method that allows you to consider different options across multiple criteria.

Since I was also looking to build something, I decided this is something I could build while also learning about Phoenix LiveView.
