SaaS Weekly
The week’s best curated SaaS articles in your inbox.
I had burnt myself out a bit with too many things, and I hit pause on this a few months ago and started looking to sell this. I posted on Tiny Acquisitions, Microacquire, reddit, and here on Indiehackers. Not much came for the first few weeks, but eventually a buyer contacted me on Reddit and we worked it.
It wasn't as much as I was hoping, but a sale is a sale!
I've had a few nibbles before this, and I operate with full transparency about the size of the list and the metrics (which are included in each weekly email). This has kept others from being willing to test the waters yet, but the new sponsor & I are working together on trying to find the sweet spot -- a bit of money for me, and value + awareness/clicks for them.

It's a slow burn, but I crossed the 200 subscriber bar finally. I'd love to have gotten here quicker of course, but I'm still taking a very organic and WOM approach to this so far -- so I'm not surprised it's taken this long.
I'm hoping this year I can get to 500 before the years out though.

I realized the existing version is very MVP and it's a bit hard to dig into 1 category for visitors. So I added in a simple tag + category search flow that hopefully will make this process easier & more valuable at the same time.
On any post, the tag is now a link to a filtered search, and all categories live on the main Articles page -- these both do the same.
I also added in a persistent Subscribe button to make it easier to do this from anywhere.

Organic search seems to be the biggest driver, as well as posting on IndieHackers and LinkedIn. I really haven't done too much promo for it, and it keeps growing weekly.
I do have plans to start more content marketing around to hopefully really drive more subscribers and then hone in getting sponsorships.

With minimal marketing, organic SEO is leading to the weekly increase of 3-5 subscribers. Even though this is a small number, to me it's a big number given I just started this on a whim, and based on a hunch. I know I need to market this more, and make the experience stickier to leverage referrals though -- likely my next move here.

As design functions become more integrated in business functions, I've long been interested in how we can more effectively help increase the value of a given business in general.
