April 2, 2020 Talking to get a cofounder on board

I've been talking with a designer in order to join as a cofounder that could handle the design part of the app.

It's the first time trying to work with someone I don't actually know but I think this can a really great experience. I feel like we clicked and the views around journaling and what the app can be.

What do you all think?
How was your experience finding your cofounder?

October 17, 2019 Goal of $6,500 MRR in 1 year

Really like the transparency @yongfook
has with https://mojosaas.com and it's goal of $100,000 ARR.

I'm going to do something similar for Sane and have a goal of $6,500 MRR with a deadline of 1 year starting November 1th.

The next Sane version, which I'm going to launch in about 1 week, will get a new look, more journals and some bug fixes.

πŸ’ͺLet's do this!

August 7, 2019 1 Week Deadline

Watching Michael Seibel (YC CEO ) sharing his approach on building an MVP and getting the very first users made me re-evaluate the strategy I have for working on and launching Sane.

I intially had this roadmap to launch the app with packages with prompts for different issues like anxiety, stress, depression etc.

I think that a clean MVP for Sane would be the very first two flows that I initially imagined for it:

  • Morning Journal (5 questions)
  • Night Journal (5 questions)

Then I'll be able to continue adding new questions and flows and focus on getting users feedback and iterate from that.

It's nice to see a fellow YC SUS-er here! Michael's talk made me re-evaluate how I was going about my launch as well. Instead of being a month away from a big launch, I quickly opened up signups over the weekend and started talking to potential users. Learning a ton! Good luck to you too, friend!

That's amazing. Something pretty similar happened to me - intitially I had a 5 week timespan to build and launch, after Michael's talk I decided it's best to just put something out there and iterate on it.

I guess it's pretty easy to fall into the overthinking trap and wanting to add as much value as possible from the starters.

Best of luck to you and maybe we'll meet in a group session, who knows :)

August 6, 2019 Now Sane is at 60 interested users

After a few discussions on some sub-reddits I managed to get 20 new early subscribers (and counting).

I really like that the mailing list is full of people that understand the power of journaling and the positive impact it has over mental health and I think it's a great audience I managed to gather when the launch of the app will be ready.

If you're interested feel free to check this link out for early access and to get updates as this ones ;) πŸ‘‰ https://www.producthunt.com/upcoming/sane-2

I love the super lightweight method you're testing for interest before actually building the product. Great work!

After diving head first and building stuff hoping the users will come - for this one I set out to write the very first line of code only after I have the first 50 people interested in the project.

I wanted to see if there are people interested in using an app like Sane and to get to understand the problem better.

August 5, 2019 First 40 subscribers

Today I managed to get the first 40 subscribers to my email list with the ProductHunt Upcoming page for Sane.

July 1, 2019 Why work on Sane?

There are a lot of resources and studies that have demonstrated the power of journaling and the benefits it can have specially for those struggling with mental issues as depression or anxiety.

Though journaling might seem simple and straight forward, when you stare at the blank piece of paper you might start to feel like you don't know where to start or what to focus on.
