We are absolutely blown away at the level of support for the project. We've added a huge number of stars to our GitHub project, taking the total over 100 in less than 24 hours.

Why is this important? It helps to understand the value of what we are building. It goes towards validating the product and helps others find Scale8.

June 6, 2022 First paying customer!

In the short time the commercial version has been released we have received some great feedback and it has also a few places to improve.

Scale8 has achieved its first paying customer and that has been a huge milestone for us. Our target is to reach 100 paying customers by the end of Q4 '22.

June 5, 2022 We announce the release of Scale8

We have shared the project for the first time with the larger community and started our marketing journey.

Over the next few quarters we hope to establish what we have done well and improve in the places we have perhaps neglected with the help of the community.

May 2022 Commercial version leaves private beta

We are officially live with the commercial version. 5 months of testing behind closed doors to make sure everything is working as we expect.

The commercial version will provided much needed revenue to the business and enable us to grow and expand our offering.

September 2021 Open-source version is complete and released on GitHub

We publish our codebase on GitHub for the first time and get direct feedback from our network of close friends (site owners and developers).

The project is released in an alpha state and we exchange cases of beers and pizza for QA work from a friend.

September 2020 MVP is complete

Our MVP is complete and we have demoed the platform to a handful of people to get some initial feedback on the idea.

We ended up making some pretty huge changes and re-writing everything from Scala to Java & TypeScript. We also made the decision to open-source the entire codebase as trust was absolutely paramount with our customers. We also agreed with early feedback that the product would be far better if allowed to grow organically with community feedback.

The project will forever remain open-source.

That's awesome, Chris. Congratulations on finishing the MVP!

March 2020 Product research

My co-founder (Alessandro) and I spent months researching and planning this project. We were still contracting at this point and had provided notice that we would be departing. This was perhaps not the best time just as the pandemic hit, but there was no turning back.

On March 1st we wrote our first line of code and the project started for real.

There is no privacy-friendly alternative to Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager with built in JavaScript error detection. We really wanted to change than and build a simple offering that would be easier to install.
