Scaling Freelance
A community for the business side of creative freelancing.
I've had a lot experience creating podcasts and I LOVE doing this so much more than writing blog posts. I took a lot of advice from Nathan Latka's process for creating a daily interview-based podcast.
We hired a VA to book freelancers for me to interview and we pay her on a per-booking basis. We also hired a local student that we've worked with before for our podcast editing. We also pay him on a per-episode basis. This way we have a clear cost per episode :)
Since we are 100% focused on building an email list, we went right to the experts and decided to invest in this. If you don't know @amyhoy and @alexhillman's course 30x500, it is the go-to source for building content and community driven businesses.
So far, I've completed the first half of the course which is all about learning how to create perfect content and start collecting emails. It's a commitment, but it's exactly the process I need. We'll see how it goes from here!
Still not sure if we are going to be exclusively a blog or a community or a podcast or what. What I do know is to build an email list we will need a place to send visitors. So we bought a decent looking Wordpress theme, bought the domain scalingfreelance.com and launched the site!

After many many side projects, we finally took a step back. We decided that this time around we are focusing 100% on building an email list of people that we LOVE being around. For us, that is growth-minded freelancers.
I could chat all day with freelancers that are trying to grow their businesses. Most creative freelancers don't view themselves as 'business owners' and it's my mission to make sure they do!
