ScanSheet
Scan barcodes with your phone. Export to a spreadsheet.
ScanSheet turns your phone into a barcode scanner that exports directly to CSV/XLSX spreadsheets.
The problem: Small businesses, event organizers, and warehouse workers still type barcodes manually into Excel. It's slow, error-prone, and painful at scale.
The solution: Open ScanSheet on your phone, scan barcodes with your camera, and watch them appear instantly in a spreadsheet on your desktop. No app install needed — it's a PWA that works offline.
Key features:
- 📱 Phone camera barcode scanning (no app install)
- 🔄 Real-time sync between phone and desktop via WebSocket
- 📊 Export to CSV, XLSX, or Google Sheets
- 📋 Batch export with date range filtering
- 🔒 Privacy-first: data stored locally in your browser
- 📶 Works offline (PWA with service worker)
- 👥 Team pairing: share a session link, start scanning
Built with: TypeScript, Vite, Node.js, SQLite, WebSocket, PWA

The workflow is clear, but I'd keep validating what customers are really replacing. They may not be looking for a barcode scanner—they're trying to eliminate manual inventory updates without changing how their team already works. If ScanSheet becomes the fastest path from physical item to usable data, that's a much stronger reason to adopt it.
Great point, Aryan. You're right — the real job-to-be-done isn't "scan barcodes," it's "get physical inventory data into a spreadsheet without typing." That's actually how I've been thinking about it internally: ScanSheet should feel like the barcode is being typed into Excel automatically, just faster. No workflow change, no new habits.
Have you dealt with inventory tracking in your own work? Curious what your current process looks like.
Good question.
I was more looking at the workflow from the outside rather than from a current inventory setup, which is why the "barcode becomes data without changing habits" angle stood out.
I had a couple of thoughts on how that positioning might affect who adopts ScanSheet first, but I'd rather discuss it in the context of what you're building than reduce it to a few comments here.
If you're interested, what's the best email to reach you on?
Thanks for the thoughtful perspective, Aryan. I really appreciate the "barcode becomes data without changing habits" framing — that's exactly the angle I want to explore further.
