Scaredpantie's lingerie brands catalog
A curated list of high quality "indie" lingerie brands.
Today someone bought us 12$ worth of coffee through "buymeacoffee" link. When we started this, we didn't think of this as something which can bring any money. But receiving even a little - means an off and it validates that something that we are doing has value. Makes you warm and fuzzy on the inside:)
Yeah, and another great thing which happened - brands started to reach out to us who want to be included, and someone also reached to us to update some info in the catalog, because he saw traffic coming from us( he didn't know about us before that). This is cool)
So I finished with the code and we posted the link to a thematic subreddit and lingerie blogger's Instagram( I'm responsible for a code, and lingerie blogger does all the content) And we were shocked, we got 50+ likes on Reddit, few thousand visits in a few days. Average browsing time is like around 1-2 minutes( data is from GA), users are clicking on links and by the amount of direct traffic, people started using our list as a personal bookmarking site. I'm thinking about adding registration to enable the functionality of personal lists or something like that.

Country matters because each country has its own aesthetic and style, plus delivery and tax can make a huge difference on a single item, making a purchase unlikely. You can buy Women's exotic lingerie from here: https://tonightsmakeup.com/products/exotic-lingerie-set

Seems like a niche with a motivated following. I have some questions.
Why is country the most important filter? What's the relevance of country in lingerie?
Why only brands and not individual products? Are lingerie consumers more interested in following brands than individual pieces?

Also, we have about 500 brands in the list right now. If we'd try to follow each of their products, it'd be thousands of cards, we'd need a whole team for this :))))

Sounds like a nice problem to have! Lots of time spent on your site. Do you find each brand can be quickly summed up with a single photo? Have you considered say an image carousel?

The country is important because each country has it's own aesthetics and style, plus delivery and taxes can make a lot of difference on a single item making the purchase unlikely. For example, delivery + taxes from Europe to Canada can be very costly. Plus some brands have offline showrooms so people search for something local.
Brands, but not individual products because each brand has it's own aesthetics and people like to discover them. These indie brands are most often consists of one or two persons running the whole business, and the line of products is not that big.

How likely are customers to order from non-local regions?
You mention each country has its own aesthetics, which makes me wonder whether there's value to say a US consumer seeing products from Netherlands brands. Or at least having them displayed so prominently.
These indie brands are most often consists of one or two persons running the whole business, and the line of products is not that big.
Isn't that an argument for showing more products from these brands? Seems like if there's a limited selection why not include them all?

Yeah, maybe we include something like that in further development. This is a bit new to us - so we think of something then implement it.
There is definitely a lot of value to people in the US to see some brands from other aesthetics - it's actually the whole point. Most of the traffic to the site comes from the US, some from London.
