ScopeLedger is a private workspace for specialty contractors (electrical, mechanical, HVAC, fire protection, and similar trades) to catch changed work before the contractual notice deadline expires, keep evidence organized against each change instead of scattered across email and photos, and see open exposure across projects in one place.

I built the whole thing myself — product, security architecture, and the go-to-market stack — after digging into how much money contractors lose not because they lack a legal claim, but because nobody captured the fact pattern in time.

Genuinely curious from this community: if you've ever worked in or adjacent to construction/contracting — how does your team currently track change orders and notice deadlines? Spreadsheet? Email folder? Nothing formal at all? I'd love to hear what's actually breaking down in practice.

The notice deadline part stood out.

Curious what you found while researching this — when changed work gets missed today, who inside the contractor usually realizes the money was lost, and how late do they typically realize it?

Apologies! was terribly busy so couldnt reply earlier.
As for your answer, notice windows are usually just 7-14 days from when the change is first identified, tight and easy to blow without anyone noticing in real time.

Who catches it, and when: rarely the field. It's almost always someone in the office — the PM doing project reconciliation, or accounting during billing/closeout — noticing labor or material costs on a job that don't match what was billed. That gap surfaces weeks or months later, often only at project closeout or during a dispute, by which point the notice window closed long ago and the paper trail has gone cold. So the loss isn't discovered by the person who could've prevented it — it's discovered downstream, too late to act on it.

That’s helpful context. I appreciate you taking the time to explain how this actually plays out in practice.

I’d like to continue the conversation outside the thread. What’s the best email to reach you on?
