I got my first paying customer!

Someone subscribed to the Pro plan for Screenshot Creator for $14.99 / month yesterday :)

It's not a lot of money by any means (and this is a high churn, competitive business where they could cancel the subscription at any time, so I don't even think it as real recurring revenue), but it provides validation for my product. People are actually willing to pay money in order to use it! It's an unreal feeling.

I shared this news with some of my friends and family but most of them don't fully appreciate the hard work that goes into creating a product from start to finish and having someone actually pay you money for it.

The kind of direct relationship you have with your customer where you actually see the exchange of money for value is something that just can't be replicated with a normal office job, and is one of the main reasons why I love building stuff in the first place.

So yes, hopefully this is a signal that the 2nd, 5th, and 10th customers are just beyond the horizon!

Dude congrats. I've been working on my video editing tool for about 7-8 months. I am almost at my first paying customer. I can feel it. I can't wait to share the same feelings!

Keep going. It took just over 12 months for me to get my first paying customer for my SaaS. But once that happens, every subsequent customer gets that tiny bit easier!

That is a beautiful feeling indeed, isn't it?? Congratulations. Celebrate this moment. Look forward to your "I got my 100th customer" post soon...

      yup he just did 200.

  3. 2

Congratulations🏆 People here definitely appreciate it. We know how difficult it is. Now your next goal should be 5 paying customers 😁

    1. 1

For sure! I think it takes personal experience to truly empathize with how hard it is :)

  4. 2

Congrats! How long did it take you?

    1. 2

I've spent about a month working on Screenshot Creator full time!

This is an awesome little tool Richard!

We currently use https://fastlane.tools/ to automate our screenshots, how does it differ?

    1. 1

Thanks! I haven't personally used Fastlane but it looks pretty cool. It looks like it's mostly geared towards automating the screenshotting process, whereas Screenshot Creator is more about customizing your app screenshot with a device frame, a background, and captions. Screenshot Creator also lets you fine tune details such as the layout, font family, font size, background color/image, etc. and is probably easier to get started with and use since you don't need to know how to code or use a terminal :)

Congrats man! I hope to be there one day too.

Congrats! Always exciting to get over the hump of customer #1 :)

Congrats. $14.99/month is still pretty good. I got my first paying customer a couple of days ago which was $1/month (charged $12 for a year)! That is my early adopter price and I'd increase it soon.

Kudos to you my friend. Really Happy to know this. As a developer myself, I can relate to the troubles you must have gone to in order to make it work. Keep it up.

Well done! What a feeling :)

was looking for a service like this recently...would try next time

"Not a lot of money" - think of it as $180 per year - it's more satisfying (motivating!). Huge congrats!

    1. 2

Thank you 🙏 I don't mean to sound ungrateful with that comment (I'm hugely grateful!), but I keep in mind that it's just the first step on a long road :) And yes, thinking in terms of ARR makes it more satisfying as well!

    Woah nice!

I wonder though, but maybe it's just me, if your logo looks a little close to the logos/icons Adobe uses for Illustrator, PhotoShop, etc.

    1. 1

Hmm, they do look kind of similar. But I like to think that Adobe doesn't have a monopoly on outlined squares with text inside!

    Congrats Richard!

This is a huge thing that I haven't had the right words to express before. Good job!
